Rose and orange butter cookies

Butter Cookies flavored with orange and dried rose petals! That may sound like an unusual pairing, but it’s indeed a delicate balance of flavors and texture, with butter providing that smooth richness in every bite – just makes you yearn for more!

You need –

  • Plain flour-185 gram
  • Baking powder-1/4 teaspoon
  • Icing sugar- 75 grams
  • Zest of 1 orange
  • Dried edible rose Patel- 1 tablespoon
  • Unsalted butter- 175 grams
  • Almond milk – 2 teaspoons
  • Rose essence- few drops

How to –

In food processor; pulse the dried rose petals a couple of times.  Sift the flour, baking powder and icing sugar and set aside.

In a mixing bowl, add the butter, flour, zest and mix with your hands until you have soft dough. Add in the  rose petals and milk. Gentle mix until its all well combined.

Cling wrap the dough and refrigerate for about an hour or till firm. Remove the dough, divide into 2 equal portions and roll each portion into a log and wrap and refrigerate for another 30-40 mins.

Pre-heat the oven to 170° C.

Remove the dough and cut into 1 cm slices and arrange on a baking tray lined with baking sheet and bake the cookies for about 20-25 mins or till light golden brown.

Let the cookies rest in the baking tray for 10 mins and then move them over to a wire rack to cool completely.
